Our Program |
************* NOTICE ************* September 22, 2008 It is with deep regret that Chatty Hands must discontinue our sign langauge programs effective October 30th, 2008. Chatty Hands still firmly believes in the benefits for children who learn sign language. A few years ago, we set out on a mission to educate the public on the use of sign language with hearing children and the benefits involved. The ride was exhilarating and awesome. We feel so blessed to have had the experience. Chatty Hands is owned and operated by Sarah Jernstrom. Our head instructor is Patty Poland. As women, Sarah and Patty have faced the challenges of running a small business while still attending to their young families. Because of their personal experiences, they both shared the same level of passion and enthusiasm of teaching children how to use sign languge as a means of communication and/or as a learning tool. However, at this time, it is unavoidable that both women must focus their attentions on their families and their immediate educational goals. Sarah is a single mom of 5 year old, Zak. She is attending Union County College’s American Sign Language Interpreter’s Program and plans to graduate as a certified Interpreter for the Deaf in May 2010. Patty is the mom of 2 year old, Aiden, and has just had her second son, Ryan, in July. She is planning on continuing her education of American Sign Language at the college level as her family life permits. It has been a privelege and a joy to work with you and your children. The children have been so responsive to learning sign language. It is our hope that you continue to offer sign language in your learning process every day. Encourage your children to express themselves and learn through sign language. Your experience will be just as rewarding as ours has been. We hope to bring Chatty Hands back to the public again one day. In the meantime, we wish you much health and happiness. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any help to you in your efforts to continue learning sign langauge. |
